Dec. 17 . Urban Nutcracker

SMAG Dance Collective; Stivers School for the Arts, 1313 E. Fifth St.; 4 & 8 p.m. Contemporary fusion dance company SMAG Dance Collective will present two performances of Urban Nutcracker, a modern version of the traditional holiday favorite, The Nutcracker. The contemporary dance show takes place in an urban environment and will feature a wide variety of dance forms, including capoeira, samba, African, hip hop, house and Chicago stepping. The performance also features music by the likes of Eartha Kitt and Earth, Wind and Fire. The show is appropriate for all ages and will feature guest artists from various arts organizations in Dayton. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, and $10 for children 6 and younger. Tickets are available at the door or by contacting smag@smagdance.org.
